Cannon PR has been shortlisted in the 2012 Yorkshire & Lincolnshire CIPR PRide Awards. The agency was chosen for its work on Baa’s of Steel – the theme for this year’s Rotherham Real Ale and Music Festival.

Baa’s of Steel is one of just six campaigns to be shortlisted in the category of “Best campaign: £10,000 and under” and was one of over 1,000 entries received by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

Matthew Ridsdale, founder of Cannon PR, said: “The Rotherham Real Ale and Music festival is a terrific organisation, and one that not only helps thousands of people to experience many different varieties of Real Ale and entertainment, but perhaps more importantly it also helps to raise thousands of pounds for local good causes.

“To be shortlisted for a PRide award – one of the most highly sought after accolades available to the public relations industry- is something that we are extremely proud of, particularly as we are one of just three South Yorkshire PR agencies to be represented this year.”

CIPR CEO, Jane Wilson MCIPR, said:

“The CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from the profession across the UK. To be shortlisted for a CIPR PRide Award demonstrates exemplary achievement, impact and value, immediately putting your work in the spotlight. The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving nationwide industry. Congratulations for reaching this stage and the best of luck for the awards presentation evenings.”

The judging process for the PRide Awards is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners. The 2012 Chairs of Judges, Gill Dandy FCIPR, Senior Consultant at The Centre for Strategy and Communication, and Chris Genasi FCIPR, Senior Consultant at APCO Worldwide, assisted in ensuring a fair and consistent judging process.

Gill Dandy, commented:”I would like to congratulate all of the individuals and teams that have been shortlisted across the twelve regions and nations in the UK. The standard of entries continues to improve year on year which demonstrates an increasingly vibrant public relations profession.”

The winners of the 2012 Yorkshire and Lincolnshire CIPR PRide Awards will be announced at black-tie dinner on 15th at the Queens Hotel, Leeds.
